Wall Street Journal’s Professional Products Group Seeking Deputy Editor

The Wall Street Journal’s Professional Products team seeks an experienced financial journalist to help manage a team of editors dedicated to editing highly specialized content for verticals that serve professional audiences.
 
The person in this position will serve as Deputy Editor of the WSJ’s Professional Products Group, which is dedicated to producing news, analysis, tools and networking opportunities that help business and financial professionals understand their industries, do their jobs and advance their careers. S/he will report to the Professional Products Editor.
 
The deputy will help ensure that newsletters and all professional content meet the highest standards for WSJ quality, and that the content produced by the teams are tailored to the needs of the specialized audience. As deputy editor, the person in this position will coordinate story plans and editing assignments across the professional group and work with fellow team members to help direct audience engagement and visuals.
 
The ideal candidate will have extensive business editing experience in areas such as corporate, finance or technology news. This editor must also demonstrate an understanding of — or eagerness to delve into — the various topics covered by our Professional teams, including corporate finance, logistics, risk and compliance, bankruptcy, private equity, cybersecurity and more. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented and able to manage a copy desk of editors focused on various topics.
 
The person must also be able to regularly work with the heads of each of the verticals and liaise with editors across the newsroom, coordinating as needed to ensure we’re producing the most-relevant, highest-value content for professional audiences.
