AM Best Seeking Associate Editor

The Associate Editor writes and develops coverage of insurance financial and business developments for Best’s News Service which includes articles for the Best’s Review, BestWeek and wire.

Responsibilities

• Participate in event coverage, including conferences, announcements and industry activities.
• Write and develop coverage expertise and meet regularly with other editors.
• Must be able to write daily news stories on deadline.
• Develop and write more articles for Best’s Review and Best’s News and Research Service.
• Develop their beat, interview executives and stay on top of insurance issues.
• Help develop graphics and photographic assignments where appropriate.
• Write magazine articles about trends, news and people in the insurance industry.
• Represent and report on behalf of AM Best news publications and services at national and regional events.
• Participate in on-camera interviews and contribute to other multimedia initiatives as opportunities emerge.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in related field.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a journalist who is able to report and write accurate coverage in a timely manner.
• Insurance experience is a plus but familiarity with financial is an absolute requirement.
• Should be facile with modern interviewing techniques, including use of technology to record and distribute the information in a range of formats.

Skills

• Must have experience as a news reporter and be able to report and write quickly.
• Should be familiar with publication style, grammar and business usage.
• Editing skills and Insurance experience are a plus.
• Must be able to work in a team setting and must be genuinely interested in the world of insurance, risk management and finance.
• Must be able to develop sustainable news relationships.
• Must be an experienced journalist who is able to report and write accurate coverage in a timely manner.
• Must handle both short and long-term assignments.
• Must be interested in enhancing financial reporting skills through additional training and learning.
