Reuters is seeking an experienced journalist who will be based in Chicago, playing a key role in general news coverage in Illinois and across the Midwest region. The correspondent’s duties include fast, accurate, well-written coverage of breaking stories, such as crime, natural disasters, trials, political and legislative issues, as well as agenda-setting exclusive and initiative stories that make Reuters stand out.
The job covers an extraordinary range of journalism, from pitching smart story ideas, to reporting and writing big breaking news, to working with stringers and crafting smooth stories from raw contributions. The role requires a team-oriented, versatile journalist who can write about a broad range of topics including the ongoing violence in the third largest U.S. city and working with reporters in other regions on larger stories.
Aside from a strong journalism background, the job requires good organizational skills and the ability to multitask. The successful candidate will have at least four years experience as a reporter and/or editor.
