ProPublica Seeks Community Editor

ProPublica is looking for a community editor who can help grow and actively engage ProPublica’s audience.
Here are a few reasons you should consider applying:

This job isn’t like every other social media job. ProPublica uses social networks to promote our own stories, sure, but we use social platforms to curate other people’s best work and help power our own reporting. Our community editor has solid news chops, and is able to take audience cues ― in comments, in Tweets, in clicks ― to spot opportunities to write/report pieces that serve our readers and enhance our coverage.

ProPublica cares about participation metrics as much as we care about social metrics. We make decisions based on audience data. And we also look for ways to actively get readers involved in our journalism ― through discussions, callouts and more.

ProPublica’s community editor serves as an ambassador for our newsroom (and investigative journalism!), leading production for our branded social accounts and connecting our investigative journalists to the realtime news cycle in savvy ways. We don’t just pile on to the daily barrage of news. We find links that add value, dig deeper, explain complex issues or simply fascinate us.

Are you passionate about the news and investigative journalism? Are you fluent in the conversational currents of various social networks? Are you an avid follower of social tools and trends who’s good at translating tips and tricks to others? We want to hear from you!!!
