As part of ALM’s Regulated Markets group, the PropertyCasualty360.com editorial team is focused on cutting edge property & casualty insurance issues, important court cases on insurance coverage and claims, emerging trends in P&C insurance, and insurance industry professionals who are part of that world. Our team includes a mix of senior and more junior reporters and editors across the country. Our team is committed to quality journalism and innovative thinking as we cover this area for a demanding and sophisticated business audience.
The digital content editor provides guidance to the rest of the editorial team to spread digital best practices, analyze and guide site traffic, and ensure audience engagement and growth.
Responsibilities
- Oversee portal content plan, which governs the day-to-day editorial production of the site.
- Monitor impression targets and adapt daily content plan in accordance with pacing reports.
- Develop or assign ad hoc stories as needed to maximize traffic and meet all ad campaign targets.
- Look for P&C insurance industry trends and develop slideshows and enterprise stories.
- Monitor content across to brands to identify editorial syndication opportunities and manage site syndication strategies.
- Identify real-time trending topics on the site using analytics, monitoring tools, and social media platforms, and develop a response strategy along with channel editors.
- Experiment with new media tools and alternative content formats, including infographics, podcasts, video, slideshows and quizzes.
- Champion digital and SEO best practices and ensure these are being implemented site wide.
- Maintain a social media presence and represent the brand on social media and at trade shows.
Qualifications
- 5-8 years’ experience in a business-to-business publishing environment with solid knowledge of journalistic best practices. Experience with insurance or financial services is preferred.
- Must be able to write clearly, engagingly and authoritatively—and on tight deadlines.
- Must be able to establish and nurture relationships with insurance industry professionals at all levels, lawyers and public relations professionals.
- Must thrive in a fast-paced environment and have the ability to juggle daily stories on tight deadlines with features and analysis.
- Must be able to write 1-2 stories a day and at least two enterprise stories a month.
- Must have a positive, can-do attitude and be a self-starter.
- Must have good communication, organization, and time management skills, and be good at collaboration.
- Must be creative, curious and enthusiastic about using social platforms, video, interactive data, and other digital tools to enhance reporting and connect with readers.
Candidates should provide three writing samples. Candidates will also be expected to take a writing test.
Salary: up to $55,000/year
