Reporting to the editor of InfraAmericas, and in their absence the Managing Editor of InframationGroup, the funds and M&A correspondent of InfraAmericas is a senior reporting role within the InfraAmericas editorial team with some editing responsibilities.
The role is dedicated to making sure that InfraAmericas is first with off diary scoops on mergers and acquisitions within the North American infrastructure sector as well as the financing related to these deals and the activities of infrastructure funds in the market.
There are also some responsibilities assisting the editor with editing copy and managing and advising our team of reporters in New York.
The role would suit a senior reporter with one or more year’s experience reporting on the M&A market. Knowledge of the infrastructure sector would be a plus but is not essential if you can show that you understand what a news scoop is and have a proven track record of breaking the big M&A stories before the competition. This position would be an ideal move for an eager reporter keen to establish themselves as a leading scoopster in one of the most exciting and fast growing sectors in the financial service industry.
Main duties
- Writing a minimum of ten and up to 15 or more news stories a week for the InfraAmericas bulletins, around one third of which should be off diary scoops. Providing in depth coverage of M&A and fund activity such as fund raising.
- Writing at least one analysis a month on a news-driven subject of interest to InfraAmericas subscribers.
- Assisting and occasionally standing in for the Editor to manage the InfraAmericas team when the Editor is otherwise engaged.
- Assisting with production of content for up to two InfraAmericas conferences (i.e. US P3 and IIF Americas as well as a Canadian event) in consultation with Inframation management and InfraAmericas Editor.
This will involve
- Regular meetings with the New York and elsewhere-based infrastructure investment and corporate community.
- Writing short and succinct M&A news stories to deadline.
- Writing longer form analysis pieces one a month to deadline.
- Helping with editing copy of the team and the editor so that it is fit for publication.
- Supervising bulletin runs in the editor’s absence.
- Assisting with staging site checks prior to copy and pictures going live.
- Sticking to deadlines laid down by the editor and ensuring swift delivery of copy to an acceptable standard.
- Liaising with commercial and events teams and industry participants for feedback for events content.
- Attendance at the New York office at the InfraAmericas editor or global managing editor’s convenience
