Money Media Seeking Freelance Insurance Journalists

Money-Media, a business division of the Financial Times, is looking for experienced freelance insurance journalists to help support the beta launch of a new Property & Casualty insurance publication focused on executives running insurance carriers. We pay a competitive hourly rate for our freelancers, and offer flexible working arrangements, including options to work remotely. The thrice-weekly publication will strive to be a one-stop information source for P&C executives through original reporting and concise news aggregation.

The freelance journalists will be expected to conduct high-level interviews with executives at P&C insurance companies, as well as leading analysts, business consultants, attorneys and regulators covering the industry. The individual will write up to 3-6 articles a week, including in-depth original stories and news summaries. We place a high value on journalists who can write in a focused, concise and detailed manner, and who have a strong record on meeting deadlines, finding diverse sources for stories, and acting ethically.

Strong preference will be given to candidates with 5 years or more of insurance journalism experience. We also encourage applications from candidates who are enthusiastic about reporting on the insurance industry and who have pre-existing relationships in that space. The freelance journalists will report to the publication’s manager and closely collaborate with editorial team colleagues.

Our plan is to implement an impactful, compelling editorial model that will allow the publication to succeed in the initial beta testing phase and become a profitable subscription publication. We will seek to turn freelance journalist jobs into full-time positions although we can’t guarantee our ability to do this.

Please email your resume and a cover letter explaining why you’d be a good fit for the freelance position to Greg.Shulas@ft.com, referencing Insurance Journalist in the subject line.
