This position is located in the News Center, Voice of America (VOA). He/she is an investigative researcher and works in close collaboration with editors and reporters to discover, research, analyze and present short- and long-term investigative content for multiple media platforms.

INTRODUCTION TO AGENCY
The Broadcasting Board of Governors (BBG), an independent federal agency, is an exciting, multi-cultural organization that encompasses all United States civilian international broadcasting. The BBG is comprised of five networks broadcasting in 61 languages that include the Voice of America, the Office of Cuba Broadcasting (Radio and TV Marti), and three grantee organizations – Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty; the Middle East Broadcasting Networks (Alhurra TV and Radio Sawa), and Radio Free Asia. The International Broadcasting Bureau provides transmission, administrative, and other support services; and three grantee organizations. Our staff of dedicated professionals serve as an example of a free and independent media, reaching a worldwide audience of 215 million people with news, information, and relevant discussions.
Duties
Duties include, but are not limited to:
*Under the guidance of the Investigative Editor and reporters, performs research that may include interviewing sources, analyzing public records, searching news archives, finding people and documents, retrieving court files and government filings, acquiring databases, and conducting literature searches, among other research tasks.
*Contributes to the conception, writing and editing of investigative stories and projects for domestic and international media channels (web digital, mobile, television and radio).
*Delivers accurate, comprehensive, timely research for longer-term investigative projects and, when appropriate, major breaking news events.
*Helps develop and maintain research materials to generate original, authoritative reporting and analysis.
*Helps reporters identify expert sources and relevant documentary and historical materials.
*Leverages social media networks to help generate stories and gather information.
*Tracks performance of multimedia content using real-time analytics to help guide presentation and production choices.
More independent control is managed at the higher grade level.

Qualifications
GS-12: Applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience which is equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-11), which is directly related to the line of work of this position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the occupation in the organization and experience that was gained in the public or private sectors (local, county, state or Federal). Examples of specialized experience for this position is experience in researching and interviewing sources, records, government filings, etc. through companies or databases; assisting editors and reporters in performing research; writing and editing on investigative stories and projects for national and international issues; and using social media networks to gain and gather required information.
GS-13: Applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience which is equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-12), which is directly related to the line of work of this position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the occupation in the organization and experience that was gained in the public or private sectors (local, county, state or Federal). Examples of specialized experience for this position is expert level research and interviewing of sources, researching records, government filings, etc. through companies or databases; providing editors and reporters with very thorough research products, material; also manages and provides investigative material on issues of high importance nationally and globally.
