Overview
The Copy and Production Editor will focus on reading and producing articles for Best’s Review and other publications and services within the news operations. They will also ensure style and accuracy of copy, art and graphics as well as the overall appearance of the magazine.
Responsibilities
- Proof print and online output.
- Works closely with the production team to maintain workflow, support accuracy and make sure editing changes are implemented.
- Participates with the broader news team to develop projects, brainstorm coverage and produce high quality editorial.
- Work with the wire service team, as needed, to read wire stories and post to the wire.
- Prepare and publish editorial material daily, weekly and monthly.
Qualifications
- Associates degree or Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
- 5 plus years’ experience in copy editing and layout in a professional news environment.
Skills
• Must possess a good command of contemporary editorial news style, spelling, grammar, financial concepts and online presentation.
• Must be able to work in a focused manner with deadline pressure.
• Strong communication skills and detailed oriented.
• Ability to operate as part of a flexible and fast moving news team.
• Able to work with minimal supervision.
• Must be adept at using Microsoft Office suite programs (Word, Excel, etc).
