The Law Report Group’s services – The Hedge Fund Law Report, The FCPA Report and The Cybersecurity Law Report – have emerged as the definitive sources of actionable insight on hedge fund law, anti-bribery law and data privacy and protection law, respectively. Part of the Acuris group of companies – which in turn is owned by BC Partners, a leading private equity firm – the services are well-positioned for significant growth.
The Hedge Fund Law Report is, by common consensus, the leading information resource focused on the legal, regulatory, compliance and operational aspects of the hedge fund industry. Since 2008, we have combined vigorous reporting and proprietary legal analysis to generate actionable insights on critical issues facing the private funds industry, and our subscribers – key decision-makers at hedge fund managers, prime brokers, institutional investors and law and accounting firms – rely on us to help them define best practices, mitigate regulatory risk and perform their day-to-day jobs more effectively.
We are looking for an Associate Editor to help drive that growth and realize that vision – a star performer with initiative, intelligence, curiosity, creativity, experience, a tireless work ethic and a gift for networking.

- Develop and maintain relationships with key hedge fund industry participants with the goals of understanding the “pain points” experienced by private fund managers, particularly fund manager GCs, CCOs, COOs and CFOs; cultivating sources for articles; developing a pipeline of contributed articles; gathering industry intelligence; and exploring event and other collaboration opportunities;
- Attend and report on industry events and webinars, including limited potential travel to events;
- Identify article topics, themes, trends and ideas that are central to the day-to-day business practices of our subscribers – primarily through engagement with sources and secondarily through reading, attendance at conferences and other information gathering;
- Edit articles for publication, including articles submitted by outside contributors;
- Assist the Editor-in-Chief with production of the publication;
- Participate in special projects; and
- Promote the product on social media.

- Juris Doctor or equivalent law degree;
- Member in a good standing of at least one state bar;
- Thorough command of hedge fund law, regulation, compliance, operations, marketing and related functions, as well as adjacent substantive areas such as private equity and derivatives regulation. Evidence of this domain expertise would be standout performance as an associate general counsel at a noteworthy hedge fund manager or as a mid-level associate at a top law firm hedge fund practice;
- Excellent reporting, writing, research and analytical abilities, with a demonstrated capacity to consistently create engaging, sophisticated articles as well as shorter updates requiring minimal editing under deadline;
- Excellent networking abilities. Ideally, a pre-existing network of close relationships among top decision-makers in the hedge fund legal, compliance and operational communities. Regardless of the depth of that pre-existing network, an ability to cultivate long-term, productive relationships with key industry decision-makers;
