Consumers Digest is looking for a writer who can produce the magazine’s Your Money department for March/April 2017. The department consists of 10 items of varying length from 50 to 275 words. The topics include investments, savings, taxes, real estate, wills, estate planning, banking, retirement accounts, education costs, financial planning, jobs and credit cards among other financial-related news, as well as a celebrity profile that pertains to a financial matter and dispenses advice. These items should be of a timely nature–based off reports, studies, regulations and news events–but broad enough to remain relevant after the issue comes out, so we’re looking for a reporter who has a nose for the news with regard to personal finance and the ability to tell readers what it means to them and their finances.
The project would be a total of 1,900 words. The first-draft deadline would be Dec. 5, with item pitches due by Nov. 21. We also would ask for availability after Dec. 5 to cover questions, concerns and editing suggestions. The project pays $1 per word, or $1,900 total. This project is work-for-hire, which means that Consumers Digest owns the copyright.
Anyone interested in this project should contact Will Christensen, managing editor for Consumer Digest at wchristensen@consumersdigest.com
