Reuters Breakingviews is in search of a New York-based associate editor who can both write agenda-setting financial commentary and help others columnists develop and craft theirs.
The ideal candidate brings a global perspective on matters economic and financial, and can work with a small group of energetic journalists to produce thought-provoking articles on companies, markets and deals. This includes a combination of breaking stories and items less tied to the daily news diary. A Breakingviews associate editor also will arrive with original ideas, a deep list of contacts, sharp analytical skills, numeracy and a wordsmith’s ability to tell complex financial stories in a short, punchy and accessible way on tight deadlines. An ability to help shape ideas for graphics, video and other media are valuable.
In addition to writing and editing, the role involves responsibility for building and shepherding several email editions each week. This requires coordination with fellow editors on other continents as well as with the local web and wire production team.
