The Thomson Reuters Deals Group seeks a high-energy journalist to cover breaking news related to the venture capital industry, such as startups securing rounds of financing, firm fundraising, personnel news and exits, predominantly in the United States. The position will write for two key Reuters Deals Group publications: Venture Capital Journal, a leading voice in the venture capital industry for more than 50 years, and peHUB.com, an online news blog and community for venture capitalists and private equity professionals. The position requires the ability to score interviews with VCs; deliver a regular stream of scoops about venture firm activity; write news analysis pieces on tight deadlines; and moderate panels and generate ideas for the group’s conferences in New York and San Francisco. The position will also craft occasional feature stories, covering sector trends and other issues affecting the venture industry. The features must be well-organized and make effective use of quotations, statistics and examples to prove out an angle of high value to subscribers. The ideal candidate is a skilled reporter with experience covering the venture capital ecosystem, anxious to use social media to engage with readers, and who operates conscientiously, but with a sense of urgency, and believes deeply in being a team player.
