The Wall Street Journal’s Professional Venture Capital group seeks an enterprising, competitive reporter to cover the venture capital deals and issues affecting the industry. WSJ Pro VC is the venture capital profession’s premier source of news, analysis and data about the startup-financing ecosystem.

This reporter will break news regularly on the most exciting startups, investors and visionaries, specifically those who are shaping the cities of tomorrow. The beat encompasses the most consequential new technologies and trends surrounding urban issues like mobility, housing, security, regulation and sustainability. This reporter will also illuminate the inner workings of the venture industry, including deals, fundraising, personalities and management issues that animate this most colorful corner of the financial sector.
 

Candidates should have minimum of five years of hard-news reporting experience, preferably writing about technology and/or finance. S/He must be able to produce clean, concise and compelling copy under tight deadline pressure. The position requires the ability to analyze complex business, social, tech and economic issues and make them understandable both to industry insiders and a wide-ranging audience alike. Candidates should also be comfortable mining data to generate stories and data-driven insights.
