Wall Street Journal Seeking Evening Editor

The Wall Street Journalis is looking for an experienced, digitally savvy editor to lead the WSJ’s real-time coverage in the evening. The editor in this position, based in the heart of the New York newsroom, will help steer coverage of big breaking news and other stories that require quick and expert handling across digital platforms.

Specific duties will include:

  • editing of fast-moving major news stories
  • oversight of the team of journalists who are editing, publishing and packaging news stories and other content on WSJ.com, mobile products and Dow Jones Newswires
  • close planning and coordination with editors and bureau chiefs around the world
  • decision-making on top news and alerts 

The editor in this position must have solid news judgment, top-notch editing prowess and strong communication skills. The ideal candidate will thrive in a high-pressure, breaking-news environment in which the ability to make smart, rapid decisions and quickly deliver expertly edited stories is essential. Experience handling the visual elements that accompany news stories is a plus, as are familiarity with SEO best-practices and social media.
