Communications Strategy Group Seeking Financial Services Copywriter

Communications Strategy Group’s financial and professional services practice is seeking to hire an experienced, full-time copywriter with financial services expertise for its NYC, Washington, D.C. or Denver office. We are looking for a talented, creative and conceptual thinker with a passion to dig deep to deliver great work. The copywriter is responsible for creating strong, brand-appropriate content and will be an arbiter of best practices in grammar, messaging, writing and style. Thinking like a publisher and journalist is at the core of the position, and will require an expertise in all things related to content development.

Responsibilities:

Collaborate with the asset management, banking, insurance and professional services teams, to determine the conceptual and copy direction of the content deliverables

Develop and write compelling and impactful long- and short-form content (such as white papers, bylined articles, blog posts, brochure copy, video scripts, social media posts, etc.), based on information gathered through research and interviews with subject matter experts

Write high-level messages and headlines for use in a variety of content formats

Work with account strategists to ensure copy tone and style are consistent

Identify and educate yourself on important industry themes and topics for various clients and commit to advancing your own personal growth and development

Manage own workload and deadlines within the financial services practice

Proof-read and edit agency communications to ensure accuracy

Contribute to a culture of content innovation and teamwork

Qualifications: 

The ideal candidate will have at least 3-5 years of copywriting experience within the financial services industry or with a news media organization

Demonstrated ability to adhere to AP Style

Strong conceptual thinking

Proven editorial skills and an outstanding command of the English language and a “nose” for the story

Training in how to tell a story using words, images or audio, and an understanding of how to create content that draws and audience

Excellent verbal, communication and presentation skills

Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

Experience collaborating with compliance and/or legal departments is a plus

Experience collaborating with compliance and/or legal departments and writing in an SEC/FINRA/FDIC compliant manner is a plus
