Capital Group Seeking Financial Writer in Los Angeles or NY

The Capital Group, parent company to the American Funds, is currently searching for an intelligent, energetic, motivated and creative individual to join our Marketing Communications team. The Financial Writer will collaborate on  creative, customized content across various channels designed to reach a range of professional and institutional audiences.

**The firm would like this job to be based in Los Angeles, but would be open to having it be in NY for the ideal candidate.

The job:

  • Create sophisticated, informative and differentiated content including: marketing, thought leadership, educational and investment-specific pieces. Content will be customized to address a range of institutional and professional audiences.
  • Develop communications across all channels: white papers, video interviews, presentations, conferences, web content, webinars and social media.
  • Collaborate with content stakeholders and internal subject matter experts to establish key objectives and themes for content.
  • Write quarterly reports and semi-annual and annual shareholder reports on several strategies and funds. Report on markets and portfolios.
  • Ensure content adheres to corporate brand standards, style guides, and legal and compliance guidelines.

  • Recommend revisions to communications to ensure alignment with organizational tone and current industry practice.

  • Collaborate with content stakeholders to understand and follow strategic direction, key objectives and themes for content.

  • Research statistical, product, audience and other relevant information to successfully complete writing assignments. Ensure content aligns with business goals, communicates the desired message to the intended audience, and adheres to corporate brand standards, style guides, and legal and compliance guidelines.

  • Translates content for delivery in multiple channels, utilizing the content management tool.

  • Keeps abreast of company, industry and regulatory changes, and internal initiatives.

 

The requirements:

  •  A minimum of 3-5 years of professional writing experience, preferably in the financial services industry.

  • A bachelor’s degree required; emphasis on journalism, marketing, economics or related field strongly preferred.
  • Proven experience writing about equity and fixed-income markets, financial planning, retirement plan options and products, and general economics topics.
  • Ability to translate complex ideas into compelling, audience-appropriate communications.
  • A portfolio of editorial content that exemplifies superb writing skills and an ability to develop creative solutions, from succinct promotional copy to long-form articles or reports.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with digital, print, email and multimedia marketing and communications.
  • Excellent project management and organizational abilities; ability to work independently and manage multiple projects at one time while meeting rigorous deadlines
  • Strategic approach to content messaging.
  • Analytical and quantitative approach; ability to navigate project through the organization and take projects to conclusion.

  • Intellectual curiosity, have an entrepreneurial drive and an ability to make complex subjects interesting and accessible.
